Job Summary
Under the direction of the director, employee relations, the specialist provides support, guidance and training within the College performance management, employee recognition and employee relations programs.

Essential Job Functions
Prepare a variety of business correspondence, records, reports, documents and forms utilizing proper English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Provide quality customer service through communication in person, via email and telephone.
Prioritize work assignments and perform multiple tasks.
Employee must have ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Articulate training concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Employee must be able to utilize technological systems and software to administer programs in area of responsibility.

Job Specific Task List
Performance Management (60%)
Serves as a consultant in the development of performance expectations, effective approaches to monitoring employees’ performance, and conducting employee evaluations. (15%)
Maintains the College performance appraisal system and accurate performance management records. (15%)
Provides entry-level assistance to supervisors in the facilitation of the College’s performance management process and system. (10%)
Assist supervisors with the facilitation of each stage of the performance remediation process. (10%)
Assists with the development and facilitation of formal training on performance management issues, such as addressing performance deficiencies and rewarding outstanding performance. (5%)
Assists the director, employee relations, consultants, and other stakeholders identify improved functionality, redesign and implement system changes and upgrades. (5%)
Employee Recognition (25%) – Administers the college’s formal recognition program.
Coordinates employee recognition events, to include the Annual Employee Recognition Ceremony and President’s Award, in conjunction with the Employee Recognition Committee and internal/external partners. (10%)
Develops and implements initiatives to enhance the recognition program in support of increasing employee morale and engagement. (10%)
Develops and conducts outreach to advertise college employee recognition programs and initiatives, including presentations to Cabinet, employee organizations, etc. (5%)
Employee Relations- Provides administrative support to the College’s employee relations program. (15%)
Serves as point of contact for the College’s unemployment compensation (UC) program. Coordinates college personnel attendance at hearings, completes appropriate UC documents, works with consultant to provide accurate information to state UC entities. (5%)
Reconciles quarterly UC billing and coordinates payment with the Finance Department. (2.5%)
Provides guidance to supervisors and employees regarding HACC’s corrective action, performance remediation, and employee recognition policies. (5%)
Maintains confidential employee files related to employee relations and performance management. (2.5%)
Performs other duties as assigned.
Task percentages may fluctuate contingent upon needs of the Office of Human Resources.

Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience
Associate’s Degree and three years of related experience or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
