Job Description

The part-time Reverse Transfer/Next Step Associate is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to identify and promote students close to graduation, who are no longer at SLCC, to complete. This person will guide identified students through the reverse transfer process and/or assist them in creating a completion plan.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Identify student-eligible populations based upon approved criteria.

Work directly with various Higher Education Institutions to assure policy and procedure is followed while identifying student populations with specific criteria.

Work with the National Student Clearinghouse to set up Banner student data submission that will identify students who qualify for reverse transfer with other Higher Institutions who participate with the National Student Clearinghouse.

Guide students towards completion by clarifying academic goals; assisting them to understand the requirements for SLCC degrees and certificates; as well as developing class schedules including selecting and sequencing coursework appropriate to program. Gain student approval for degree completion/graduation.

Evaluate the students total academic progress. Identify and negotiate potential roadblocks; i.e. transfer credits, updated admissions, registration, holds, and childcare. Refer students to college resources to enhance their success. Monitor the overall process and refine procedures as needed.

Provide support to other areas within Scheduling and Academic Support Services as needed.

Work experience in Higher Education.
Banner, DegreeWorks and Cognos knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
2-4 years related experience.
Substitutions for education/experience are allowable on a 1:1 basis.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Identify, format, and transfer student data.
Effective written and oral communication.
Create and maintain professional relationships.
Ability to organize, retrieve, manage and present large amounts of informational details.
Knowledge of college catalog with understanding of academic requirements.
Knowledge of transfer processes and articulation.
User of Banner, Degree Works and Cognos.
User of productivity software including word processing and spreadsheets.
Demonstrate initiative and creativity to resolve conflicts and provide solutions.
Knowledge of college policy and procedures.
Knowledge of FERPA.
Knowledge of general enrollment procedures.
High attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize assignments and meet strict deadlines.
Understanding of academic advising theory and practice.
Knowledge of SLCC and community resources.
Ability to work well as a team player with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
