Description of Work
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Development, Management and Maintenance of Five Knight Chair websites:
Oversee and coordinate with external developers (primarily DesignHammer) on a daily basis all changes to usnewsdeserts and cislm.org/digitalstrategy websites – including site layoutandadditions of dozens of new graphics, maps and tabs related to the 2019 update.
Troubleshoot with external developers (including DesignHammer) and hosts of other all other websites (including savingcommunityjournalism, newspaperownership and wiley) maintenance and changes.
Schedule and post weekly content to both USNewsDeserts and CISLM, using SEO best practices when producing and posting content and other graphic material.
Assume responsibility for accuracy, timeliness and comprehensiveness of data and graphics displayed on usnewsdeserts website. Take suggestions and corrections from users of the website, and work with data visualization specialist and web developers to make the site more user friendly.
Graphic Design and Data Visualization:
Layout print content for annual reports and other “leave-behinds”
Work with contractual data visualization specialist (located in San Francisco) to develop new interactive graphics and maps for usnewsdeserts.com and the 2019 report.
Ensure 300+ graphics and maps on usnewsdeserts display properly on web page, coordinating with both contractual data visualization specialist and web site developers.
Ensure the data hosted in Google Drive to populate Tableau data visualization maps is accurate and can be easily accessed and used by data visualization specialist.
Create Tableau maps using new data and troubleshoot existing Tableau maps and other data visualization when needed.
Education and Experience
Skills Needed:
Wordpress template editing
Video and graphic embedding
content layout and general understanding of how websites operate
Familiarity with SEO/SEM
Proficiency using Twitter and other social media
Proficiency in Adobe In-design
Proficiency with Tableau map-building
Proficiency with video editing software
Ability to create graphs, charts and other data visualizations
