Join the team! This position is located in the Headquarters Office of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Office of Communications (OCM). The Office is responsible for the implementation of the Commission’s media relations program and the development and evaluation of national information and public affairs programs designed to promote product safety.
As an audiovisual production specialist, the incumbent independently performs a variety of highly complex assignments, which are broad in scope and directly impact the mission of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The incumbent is responsible for control room operations, including operating the switcher and handling all live and taped audio and video needs in support of Commission hearings and meetings. The incumbent is responsible for video production on site and at remote locations including program content and development, pre and post production, set and lighting design, coordination of all technical equipment and staff, site acquisition, video editing and final production. In addition, the incumbent shoots and produces video content to support information and education activities that directly support the mission of CPSC, including on digital and social media platforms, and internal training videos. The incumbent’s work product may be presented in live video, DVD, web streaming, social media or other media output. The incumbent is responsible for all video content and some graphical content for CPSC’s sites. The incumbent is responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing production facilities including concepts, design, technical specifications, contract management and budgets. Incumbent provides oral and written information and reports as needed, and makes recommendations to accomplish Commission goals.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
GS-13: The candidate must demonstrate her/his experience 1) running multiple camera remote control systems, audio systems, switcher and webcast systems for live broadcasts of meetings and 2) professional video camera operator and editing experience from a local or network news outlet, government agency or other source.
If selected for an interview, applicants will be required to submit a reel 1) showing live multiple camera meetings they have run, switched and webcast and 2) showing your own professional video and editing products.
The qualifying specialized experience must be fully described in the duties section of your resume in order to receive credit.
